My research focuses on power and energy systems, with a specific emphasis on smart grid technologies, energy management, renewable energy integration, and energy storage.

Studies novel structural systems and the behavior of structures subject to natural hazards such as earthquakes and hurricanes.

Research: Hydrology, remote sensing, water resources management, modeling frameworks, decision support tools, optimization, and geostatistics.

Studies solid oxide fuel cells, materials and composites for energy technologies, and student motivation in STEM.

Studies the electrophysiologic properties of cells through lab-on-a-chip assays to delineate how these properties relate to disease, drug resistance, circadian biology and cell patterning.

Research: Structural and physical characterization of insect flow systems.

Focuses on how disturbances related to weather, climate, and land cover/land use change affect ecosystem productivity and self-sustainability.

My research interest is to prevent and treat cardiovascular disease. We employ a combination of traditional engineering approaches (solid mechanics and fluid mechanics) and biological techniques (tissue engineering and physiology) to develop models to better understand the pathology of cardiovascular disease and characterize the failure of cardiovascular devices.
